Programmatic Approach

Since the inception of PACE has been working at the grassroots community level and it has a identity of professional voluntary development working at the grassroots. PACE has developed a framework of development, which is translated to the community level. It addresses the development issues in the following manner as shown in the illustration.

PACE since the last seven years have focused on the four major sectors and undertaken projects and programmes on Health, Education, Livelihood and Entitlement. There are four different the strategies to reach the goal i.e, capacity building of the community, community mobilization, networking, and research and policy advocacy.

Over the years, PACE has undertaken projects in improving education status. The focus of all the interventions was promoting girl child education and improving their awareness and skills. Firstly, extensive community mobilization and awareness building through various mass media like nukkad natak, magic shows, rallies, communication rath, wall writing, distribution of newsletters and magazines etc were carried out to mobilize the community.

Secondly, at the community level especially at the Panchayat level, the Shiksha Samities were activated and their capacity building was done through organizing training and public hearing workshops. Thirdly, women groups, adolescents girls groups, Meena manch and youth clubs have been formed at the community level. These groups play a major role in the implementation of the programme and are organized around any core issue. Fourthly, Community level action on women atrocities, harassment are dealt with community consultation and collective action under the women forum called “Mahila Shakti Manch” which is headed by Arifa Khatoon, Kamla Devi and other activist from the districts.
